about

Fakescape was J of the Casual Distractions, who came in one day and told us he had been listening to a lot of vintage RevCo and Nitzer Ebb and wanted to knock off his own batch of lo-fi industrial pop.

"It'll be easy," he said. "The songs are simple. I'll be out of here in a couple days."

Months later, the studio was still chock full of his blinking boxes. He had used every one of our power strips, alarming the local fire department.

Fortunately for us, the Distractions soon had to depart for their extended tour of Thailand, which was another story entirely, and J had to pack up. At that point, the cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence" had no vocals. J promised to complete them after the tour; however, in his absence, Randy Rabbit of the Irascible Bastards had a listen and decided to do the vocals himself. The Distractions were outraged on their return but had to admit that Randy had done a good job. T Bone mixed the track, and the result is what you hear here.
